3rd & final letter from Kortrijk, Belgium - Week 58 ACCIDENT & ROAD TO RECOVERY

For those of you that didn't hear, Elder Walker was in a bicycle accident last week and suffered a major break to his left ankle which required surgery and 2 plates. He is looking at a 3-6 month recovery and will be coming home for as long as it takes to recover.  With that being said, I'm sad to say that his mission journey will be put on pause.  It is unfortunate because he has loved this mission SOOOO much and the people he has had the opportunity to serve with and the many people he has met in Belgium and Netherlands.   We are so grateful his injuries weren't worse.  Here is his latest email to me. He is so optimistic and such a great example!

Hey madre, I love you and just want to give you an update.  I'm healing well and they are taking care of me. haha but I will be going home.  Wednesday I have an appointment with the surgeon who will basically clear me for travel or not and from there the mission office will book a flight home, so I should be expecting to be traveling home within a week. haha, but the good news is that President Bunnell's first goal is to get me home, healed and back out here as fast as possible.

I know that this is just a part of Gods plan for me and I'm grateful for him.  I know that I will learn and grow a lot from this so I don't want anyone to be sad or upset.  We are looking forward in faith and I know God has a lot more work for me to do.  I love you guys and have an amazing week. I'll talk to you soon.

- Elder Walker

Sorry if this turns some of your stomachs!
